Welcome back to school, bros. I hope this summer was as much of a three-month long party for you as it was for me. Now that we’re back to daily classes and the scholastic lifestyle of semesters past, it’s time to get in the zone and clean up your act. That means toss out those Keystone-stained Man-dals and buy a new pair of shoes. Whether this is your first or final year of schooling here at the University of Nevada, Reno, this is the time of year to make a great impression and no piece of clothing speaks louder than a man’s shoes. Flip-flop lovers beware: do you really want to walk all over campus flat-footed? Flip-flops and other sandals work great when strolling to the hotel pool or walking the beach boardwalk. In fact, flip-flops are a great co-accessory with a Corona during those summer months, but let’s face it — they are not great for walking. Instead, maintain a sophisticated, preppy look with a new pair of boat shoes. With the versatility of being worn with or without socks (the latter may leave your shoes smelling a bit funky), boat shoes, or deck shoes, go great with shorts during the day and with jeans for nightly outings. Just make sure to get shoes of warm colors. Boat shoes are typically a spring look, but when done right, they can fit well in every season. For premium styles, Sperry and Sebago are two brands that specialize in different types of boat shoes. However, if you are looking for something a little more mainstream, brands like Nike Dunks, Vans, and even QuikSilver have dabbled in their own models. If you’re a seasoned veteran of the campus walking demands, you probably came prepared with a pair or two of fly sneakers, fully equipped with heel and ankle support. If you have yet to get some new kicks, go retro. Classic-styled sneakers are not only safe stylistically, but in terms of comfort as well. Nike would not continue to make Air Force 1’s if they hurt your feet. Go with a new color of an old favorite, such as the Nike Dunk or the Reebok Pump Omni. Not only are these smart, they’re clean. You may even get second looks from a professor or two and maybe even a “Hey, I used to wear those when I was your age.” Now for those of you who dig the extremely casual look (I’m talking to you, guy who’s proudly worn the same pair of skate shoes for two years), you can buy new shoes and stay casual simultaneously. It’s called the slip-on. Casual, comfortable, and all-around cheap, slip-ons fit almost any style. Vans are traditionally the go-to brand for slip-ons; however the increased popularity of the style has intrigued Adidas, DVS, Nike, Converse and many other brands to follow suit. Chances are, none of this is new to you. But if you’re that guy — the one mentioned above — you, mi amigo, desperately need to know this. The average slip-on is only about $40. Style doesn’t get much more affordable. This is the time to impress, and hopefully this column will help you dress the part. Good luck, fellow male students. 本日志相关的主题:
